About Meghan Pauley Nespeca

I’m a self taught textile artist, surface pattern designer and illustrator based in the rural countryside of the North Carolina Foothills. I work from my sunshine filled home studio creating original textile and collage artworks full of hand painted fabrics, papers and poetry.

I also create surface pattern designs + illustrations full of folk inspired whimsy and color that are available for licensing and collaborations.

New England born and raised, I have found my home in the sweet hills of the South, with her rolling farms and slow pace. Past travels through India + Asia, my childhood memories in New England, my journey through motherhood, and my home in the North Carolina countryside have all shaped my art and inspired my heart.

My process for creating is full of intuition and freedom. I intentionally use natural fibers and repurposed fabrics + papers in my textile work, as they not only add an earthy element of nostalgia in my art, but are also sustainable and nontoxic. Natural dyeing with botanicals, painting on both cloth + paper, hand stamping, illustration, and original poetry are all components of my work, which are then hand embroidered and machine sewn into wall quilts and framed mixed media textile pieces.

In 2022 my kids collection, Tulip and Cloth was born from a love of creating whimsical and colorful textile + illustrations, perfect for a child’s space. I feel there is a magic in filling a child’s nest with rich, vibrant colors of the rainbow.

My art is simply the essence of what I hold to be good and true, beautiful and forgotten , encompassing what it is to feel deeply and fully.. remembering the goodness that is all around us.

My work has been featured in multiple local and international publications
